The Car That Came Back from the Sea²⁰²³

The car that came back from the sea tells the story of six friends who drive to the seaside in their first own, but rather broken, car. The six are young and want a better future. In the summer of 1981, they set off for the Baltic Sea in Poland. The car is far too small, but somehow they all fit in. During the journey, the car repeatedly loses the passenger door, while their homeland threatens to fall apart. In flashbacks, they experience everyday life in Poland at the time: political unrest flares up, the country is occupied by Russia, people go on strike for Solidarność and young adults leave the country en masse until martial law is declared in Poland. The borders are closed. Tanks roll in and armed militias patrol the streets. Nevertheless, life goes on.
